Port Tampa Bay

    Cruises from Tampa, FL

Port Tampa Bay is one of the most underrated cruise ports in Florida: smaller, easier, and a short drive for most of Tampa Bay. It's not the port for the newest mega-ships, but it's where you sail when you want the Western Caribbean without a flight.

I live 35 minutes from the port and book Tampa sailings constantly. Here's the honest breakdown for 2026.

Cruise lines sailing from Tampa in 2026

Tampa supports four major lines year-round and seasonally. The fleet here skews mid-size, which means easier embarkation, smaller crowds, and shorter port days.

    • Carnival Cruise Line — Carnival Paradise (4 and 5 night), Carnival Pride (longer Caribbean and repositioning)
    • Royal Caribbean — Brilliance of the Seas and Rhapsody of the Seas, seasonal 4-8 night Caribbean
    • Norwegian Cruise Line — seasonal sailings, varying ships
    • Celebrity Cruises — Celebrity Constellation, longer Caribbean and Panama Canal
    • Holland America and Princess on select repositionings

    Sample itineraries from Tampa

Most Tampa sailings are 4-7 night Western Caribbean. Common ports: Cozumel, Costa Maya, Grand Cayman, Roatan, Key West, Belize.

    • 4-night Western Caribbean: Cozumel or Key West/Cozumel
    • 5-night Western Caribbean: Cozumel + Costa Maya or Grand Cayman
    • 7-night Western Caribbean: Roatan, Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel
    • Longer 9-14 night sailings on Carnival Pride or Celebrity to Panama Canal or Southern Caribbean

    Drive times and parking

Port Tampa Bay sits at the south end of downtown Tampa. From most of Tampa Bay you're 25-60 minutes door to terminal. Port parking is $15/day in the garages closest to the terminals, paid on arrival, no reservation needed.

    • Wesley Chapel: 35-45 minutes
    • Brandon: 25-35 minutes
    • St. Pete / Clearwater: 35-50 minutes
    • Sarasota: 60-75 minutes
    • Orlando: 90-105 minutes (often still cheaper than flying)

When Tampa is the wrong choice

If you want Icon class, Star of the Seas, Disney's Wish or Treasure, or anything newer than 2018, you'll need PortMiami or Port Canaveral. The Tampa fleet is great but it's not new.

My service is always free. Cruise lines pay me directly, so the price you see on the cruise line's site already includes my commission. Book direct and that money just stays with them.

    Frequently asked questions

Currently Carnival Pride and Celebrity Constellation are the largest mainstream ships homeporting in Tampa. No Oasis-class, Icon-class, or other 5,000+ guest mega-ships sail from Tampa, the channel can't accommodate them at full size.

Port parking is right at the terminal, $15/day, paid on arrival, no reservation. Most Tampa Bay locals drive and park. From farther away, an off-site lot with shuttle (Park 'N Cruise, etc.) can save $5-10 a night.

Per night, sometimes — but the bigger savings come from skipping flights and pre-cruise hotels. A 5-night Carnival from Tampa often beats a Miami sailing by $400-800 once travel is included.

January-April is peak demand and weather. November and early December are sweet spot for value: warm water, fewer crowds, lower fares. August-October is hurricane season; pricing is lowest but flexibility matters.

Rarely. Tampa's geography makes Bahamas itineraries inefficient, the ship would burn most of the trip getting there. For Bahamas, sail from Port Canaveral, Miami, or Fort Lauderdale.
